My two passions in life that I can never get enough of, are nutrition and yoga. Yoga has changed my life. A typical Type-A personality, I came to yoga through the hot, sweaty, physical fitness style of yoga, needing something that challenged me and pushed me physically to keep me interested. However, along the way, as I was exposed to different styles of yoga, teachers and teachings, my eyes began to open to just how much more there is to this ancient practice and tradition. Completely fascinated with the depth of the offerings and teachings and embracing that the learning never ends, yoga has become a major part of my life which is always evolving and growing.
My desire is to share this passion, which has powerfully enhanced my life, with others, so that they may also benefit and achieve positive transformation in their lives. My classes are open to all levels and include options for beginners, as well as opportunities for more experienced practitioners to explore deeper variations. By teaching you how to breathe in a slow, steady and mindful way, whilst being in a physically challenging asana (pose) or practice, you will build skills that equip you to respond more desirably to the day to day challenges of life. As well as the obvious physical benefits of strength and flexibility, by cultivating a deeper sense of connection to yourself, you will build self-acceptance, practice mindfulness and gain a sense of freedom. My love of yoga goes hand in hand with my first love of nutrition. The two complement each other and blend together in many ways, but notably in relation to the food-mood connection.
Improving mood and self-awareness through the practice of yoga, directly translates to better food choices and more mindfulness with eating. This also goes the other way around as well, with much evidence showing that eating in a way that nourishes your body well, promotes significant improvements in mental as well as physical health. I am passionate about using an holistic, wholefoods approach, when working with clients on their nutrition, to improve health and increase vitality. Also, by increasing awareness of how certain foods make you feel – physically, emotionally and spiritually, we are able to tap in and reduce non-hungry and emotional eating.
Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self
